Check your email or go to the Counseling Office for the Western Colorado Migrant & Rural Coalition’s annual scholarship application for high school seniors in Delta & Montrose school districts. The award is up to $1,500. This scholarship is for students that have worked as seasonal migrant farmworkers or whose parents have worked as seasonal migrant farmworkers. It is intended to support students that plan on pursuing post-secondary education in the 2019-2020 school year.

The Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Institute is proud to help students further their education as they continue to “promote western coal through education”. Eight Engineering/Geology scholarships are awarded annually to students at a four-year university entering their junior or senior year. Students must be a resident of one of the eight RMCMI member states and looking for a career in the coal industry. The scholarships are $2,750 per year and may be given for up to two years. The selected students are also offered an all-expense paid trip to the RMCMI Annual Meeting & Conference in late June where they have the opportunity to meet industry leaders and attend all the technical sessions.
Additionally, eight Technical School scholarships are awarded to students in technical programs who hope to take their education into the coal industry, where there is a great demand for technical applications. This is a one-time $1,000 award.
10 scholarships available: 9 scholarships for $1,000, and 1 scholarship for $2,500.
This competition is an outstanding opportunity for high school seniors to obtain additional funds for college, and to learn about the importance of the U.S. civil jury system.
The deadline for students to submit their 1500 word essays is **FEBRUARY 1, 2019**.

FRA sponsors an annual essay contest to promote the spirit of Americanism and patriotism among our country’s youth. FRA's Americanism Essay Contest is open to all students, grades 7 through 12, including those who are home schooled. Students are invited to submit a 350-word essay through an FRA member or local FRA branch before the December 1st deadline. Local winners are forwarded for competition at the regional level and regional winners compete for national prizes.
The grand national winner will receive $5,000, with additional prizes for the top three essays in each grade category ($2,500 for first place, $1,500 for second place, and $1,000 for third place).
